MTV TJ GABI GREGG SPEAKS OUT ON RECENT BULLYING CASES

Many of you are aware of the recent and heartbreaking events that have taken place at Rutgers College regarding student Tyler Clementi. MTV TJ Gabi Gregg has made it her mission to bring awareness to the increasing suicide rate brought on by bullying (both in person & over the Internet).  Her message to people struggling with life, “It Gets Better”.  She recently visited the Rutgers campus and posted this article on the MTV website.

My heart breaks for the many teens & young adults who are violated, taunted and teased into a feeling of hopelessness.  We as human beings all reach points of discouragement and vulnerability in life, but it truly does get better. I for one have been through the awkward phases where I wasn’t quite sure where I fit, and I can attest to the fact that things work out. Life is all about growing pains.  We go through many uncomfortable and at times painful phases in life to get to the next level & reach our full strength and potential.  It is important to allways remember that with time, ALL wounds heal & we eventually fall into the right place.

It is NEVER okay to contribute to someone’s pain.  It is NEVER okay to violate a person’s privacy.  It is NEVER okay for our actions to be based on hate.

Gabi posted the video below in which she shares her personal experiences and encourages everyone going through a difficult time in life that things will get better. If you have been bullied or harassed and are contemplating suicide or need someone to speak to, MTV News has compiled this list of resources, including hotlines and testimonials offering hope for those who are feeling hopeless.”-Gabi Gregg
