THICK FAB LIFE DOES SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL (January 24, 2013)

January 24, 2013
I got invited to the Sundance Film Festival this year and jumped on the opportunity!  I flew into Salt Lake City, Utah on what was reported as one of the worst weather days in years.  My flight came in right on time because shortly after we landed, the runway was shut down when a plane skidded off the runway due to black ice.  It was rainy and snowy, but the fresh coat of snow and occasional peak of sunshine still made it a beautiful morning.

After settling in, we spent a good amount of the day enjoying the scenery.  That evening, we attended the viewing of one of Sundance Festival’s more anticipated films, Fruitvale.  This movie (directed by 26 year-old Ryan Coogler with the help of Forest Whitaker and featuring Michael B. Jordan, Melanie Diaz and Octavia Spencer) was incredibly moving and earned the director a standing ovation at the end (something that doesn’t often happen at the Sundance Film Festival).  Coogler and his production team stayed afterward for Q&A with the audience.  I believe this movie will have a huge year!  It’s definitely worth seeing, just be sure to bring your Kleenex!

After the movie viewing, we attended a dinner held by AMC Networks (Sundance Channel, AMC, WE TV, IFC).  The decor and atmosphere were beautiful with a warm, winter wonderland feel.  The ambient candle light made for an intimate feel.  We got a chance to mingle with some of the people behind the scenes who make the network what it is.  AMC has an incredible team. We ate, drank and danced until we were exhausted and ready to turn in.  What an awesome experience and first day at the Sundance Film Festival!  Looking forward to a few more amazing days here on the slopes!
